A sixth-grade reading assignment started M. K. Theodoratus' writing "career" with a Nancy Drew pastiche. She
started writing seriously when she worked for a weekly newspaper, writing short non-fiction as well as doing her
other chores. After she dropped out of the 9-to-5, Theodoratus returned to fantasy fiction. Mariah and the Half-Elven
are one of the results. Taking Vengeance chronicles the beginning of the feud between Mariah and Linden, the ruler of
the Marches and her former lover.
